I've mentioned here that I'm the creative type, but what I failed to mention is my complete lack of discipline when it comes to making art. I only create when I'm moved by some uncontrollable bout of inspiration. As I'm sure you know, these moments don't come along too often. Because of this, I haven't really honed my skills or zeroed in on my own personal artistic style.
I've decided to challenge myself to Make Art Everyday (hence the title Operation M.A.E... such a clever name, I know) from now until my 30th birthday.
I don't care if what I make is good, bad or downright silly... I just want to sit down with intent and make something (anything!) on a daily basis. A photograph, painting, drawing, piece of clothing, craft project, some scribbles on a napkin... literally anything at all. I want to use this time to explore my creativity and attempt to figure out what (if anything) I'm good at, what I love, and what inspires me on a daily basis.
I'm using this blog to hold me accountable, and I plan on creating an Operation M.A.E. gallery as well as posting the results of my make-athon on a weekly basis.
I'm excited and hopeful that something amazing could come of this little challenge. I'm not going to censor myself or try to steer my creativity in any one direction. Just exploring and most importantly taking action, whether I feel like it or not.
I guess I'd better get started... now where did I put my sketch book?
